Tutor Resources

Browse the Page

This page includes freemium, free, and subscription-based resources tutors can use with their students.  We created this page, in part, to keep track of all the resources we have gathered as teachers and tutors, and hope you find it useful.

We Learn to Change does not receive a commission for any of these recommendations.

Freemium and Free

Edulastic

There is a free version of this site that is terrific, but you might find yourself drawn to the premium version for the myriad of performance reports available to you.  Many states post released items to this site to help with test prep, too.  With the ability to see standards-based mastery reports, and to present tests according to the state format, the $100/year subscription might prove worth it to you.

K-5 Learning

This site has numerous worksheets you can use to build grade-level workbooks to help your students thrive.

K12 Reader

K12 Reader provides more than materials for reading instruction.  In fact, it hosts worksheets on spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and writing, too.

Engage NY

NY State has amassed a TON of great resources for educators, students, and families.  You simply have to check out this site.

Achieve the Core

Achieve the Core supports teachers, tutors, parents, and students as they navigate the Common Core State Standards.  Many states have adopted these standards, modifying them as needed to suit the needs of their student population.  This is a terrific starting point for anyone hoping to help students (or themselves) find success in the K-12 classroom and beyond.

Edcite

There is a school and district version of this site, but the free version helps teachers and tutors provide practice for online assessments.  According to their About page, “Edcite enables teachers to create high-quality, easily customizable, interactive content to fit their class. Our mission is to improve teacher efficacy and student learning through an engaging digital experience.”  We hope to try the site out soon!

Blooket

Oh, this site is so much fun.  The kids love gamified learning, and you will too, when you see the smiles on their faces.

Quizlet

This has been a favorite of teachers and students for years.  There is a free version, and paid versions offer better reporting and an ad-free experience.  That’s about $48/year.

Kahoot!

Kahoot! can be so much fun.  It’s similar to the other gamified platforms mentioned here.  There are (probably) thousands of kahoots you can choose from – lovingly created by teachers, tutors, and students – to build your own kahoot in minutes.  The free version allows you to create kahoots, host and play them, and assign them as student-paced practice.  The premium versions offer more features worth exploring.

The pro version is $36/year, and the premium version is $72/year.

EdClub Vocabulary and Spelling

EdClub has vocabulary, spelling, and typing courses for grades K-8.  We use it mostly with our 4th – 6th grade students.

Please investigate this site to see if it is worthy of your subscription.  They offer so much for free, but we all know what is like to offer so much of ourselves to get so little back.

NearPod

Nearpod became popular during the pandemic, when those who wanted to make education more technical took full advantage of remote learning to hone their presentation skills.  Nearpod allows teachers and students to interact with content synchronously and asynchronously.  It also offers a Google Slides add-in to make crafting presentations easier.  While there is a free version of this software, the premium version unlocks so many useful features, we are including it in the subscription section.

Flocabulary

Flocabulary is a Nearpod company.  It produces and distributes hip-hop videos on concepts from all subject areas and current events.  A trial is available, but after the trial, you have to purchase a subscription.

Twinkl

We don’t even remember how we stumbled onto this site.  It’s great.  It offers printables, presentations, and interactive activities for grades K-6 for all subject areas and SEL.

Education.com

Education.com provides worksheets, games, lesson plans, and interactive lessons, and more for elementary and middle school students.   It was the first subscription we obtained when we started tutoring.

IXL

IXL has standards-aligned and challenging activities for grades K-12. It is worth the subscription price.
